About The Salvation Army
At The Salvation Army, we are dedicated to Doing the Most Good. We are a nonprofit organization that works to alleviate human suffering and distress without discrimination. The Salvation Army Potomac Division serves communities throughout Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

OUR MISSION
WHAT WE OFFER
In the Potomac Division we have 53+ centers, serving residents throughout Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
Our work is funded through kettle donations, corporate contributions, and the sale of goods donated to our Salvation Army Family Stores. Eighty-two cents of every dollar we spend supports our various missions across the country. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions are deductible for Federal Income Tax Purposes to the extent permitted under Section 170(b)(2) for corporations.

Divisional Leadership
Both children of Salvation Army officer parents, Allan and Fiona Hofer met at the International Training College in London, England. Following his commissioning in 1986, Allan was appointed as a Youth Officer to the Regent Hall Corps in London and in charge of Westminster Corps.
They were married the following year and began their service as Salvation Army officers. They have served in more than a dozen appointments around the world in Europe, South America, and in the United States Southern Territory.
In June 2019, the Hofers were appointed as Divisional Leaders to the Arkansas and Oklahoma Division. The Potomac Division, serving Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia, welcomed the Hofers as Divisional Leaders in June 2021, with Allan serving as Divisional Commander and Fiona serving as Divisional Leader for Advancement.
Together their highest calling is to live and to serve on behalf of Jesus Christ our Lord, and to help others to know Him.
