Thank you for your trust in The Salvation Army.
Our 2017 Angel Tree distribution provided gifts and clothing for 429 families, a total of 1,749 children and teens!
Sign Up will take place at The Salvation Army, 207 Ridge Street, starting Friday, September 28, 2018, Monday, October 1, and Tuesday, October 2, 2018, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 pm.
- We require the following forms of identification: picture ID for applicant and proof of guardianship for dependent children age 12 and under. An affidavit from school with child’s name(s) associated with the addressee, award letter from DSS are some examples. The document must bear the parents and child’s names so a child’s Medicaid card is not sufficient. Eligibility for DSS, SNAP, or free or reduced lunch is NOT required to be eligible for Angel Tree.
- An eligible family must have at least one child age 12 and under any day in 2018 (even if they turn 13 before Christmas). WAHU Stockings adopts the older siblings (ages 13-17 in 2018) of the children eligible for Angel Tree, but it is NOT for teens who are not part of a family that is eligible for Angel Tree by ALSO having a younger sibling age 12 and under.
- The application must be presented to us IN PERSON. While it may be taken from the web page or reception area any time, we will not accept a completed application until the first day of Sign Ups on Friday, September 28 when identification will be verified. They will not be accepted by fax, email, or mail, or any other form of submission that is not in person on or after September 28.
- CHEER TOWN (including Angel Tree Distribution by Appointment) will be Wednesday, December 12 to Thursday, December 13, 2018.
WE DON’T DO THIS ALONE! Our Angels aged 13-17 are provided for through WAHU Stockings. Thank you Newsplex, UVa Community Credit Union, Hollymead Town Center. The Kickoff for WAHU Stockings will be Tuesday, November 22. Then the “stockings” will be available at all branches of UVa Community Credit Union, Newsplex, here at The Salvation Army, and in Hollymead Town Center.
We work with Toys For Tots-Toy Lift, Love, Inc., Grace Church, Santa Council of Louisa County and other similar groups, sharing the names of our applicants with them to reduce duplication. Generally speaking, application to The Salvation Army Angel Tree programs eliminates the option to apply to these other organizations.
