Please refer to our Frequently Asked Questions first, then call our office at 434-295-4058 or email charlottesvilleva@uss.salvationarmy.org. Helping you find a solution for your need is important to us and is best done by telephone rather than by an internet inquiry. Using “Contact Us” does not hold a place for you for assistance that is based on timely applications like Angel Tree or Dominion EnergyShare.

Soup Kitchen

Our Soup Kitchen is open 365 days a year, three times a day (breakfast and supper Monday through Saturday, and breakfast and mid-day meal on Sunday are open to the public). Area churches, clubs and groups partner with us to provide volunteers, and very often, the food, on a regular basis.

Emergency Shelter

Feel free to call us or stop by to find out if there’s a vacancy in our 58-bed shelter.

COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT:
Guests entering The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter are provided one-to-one advocacy to answer questions about options in the surrounding community. We sit down with every guest in the shelter to set goals taking their preferences and personal interests into account to better their situation and prepare for their departure from the shelter.

As those in need transition to long-term stability in food security, housing, community involvement, and personal growth, families and individuals benefit from a daily soup kitchen and weekly community-based programs.

Emergency Food

We are a partner with Blue Ridge Food Bank’s Food Rescue Program by picking up food and produce from local grocery stores and bakeries before the “sell by” date then making it available outside our Soup Kitchen until it is gone.
