BACK TO SCHOOL ASSISTANCE
The 2018-2019 school year will be starting soon and we’re working to make sure children from struggling families within our community start the year right with backpacks and school supplies. If you need assistance for your child, please contact one of our centers below.
Virginia Peninsula: Applications for school supplies are being accepted August 1st through August 23rd, Monday – Thursday, 9am to 11am and 1pm to 3pm . Apply at The Salvation Army, 1033 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA. For more information, call (757) 838-4875.
Gloucester Service Center: Applications for school supplies are being accepted July 19th through August 9th, Tuesday – Thursday, 9 am to 3 pm. Apply at The Salvation Army, 7059 Linda Circle, Hayes, VA. For more information, call (804-642-3960).
Donations to the Back-to-School program are critical if we want to help school children in our community who need assistance. During the month of August, WVEC 13 NEWSNOW and Walmart are partnering with us through their WRITE STUFF campaign. There are two ways to donate, either by making a financial online contribution or donating supplies and backpacks. Donations can also be made at a Salvation Army center near you. A list of needed items can be found on this page. If you purchase backpacks, please don’t stuff them yourself. We’ll be happy to do it for you.
