The Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula offers programs and events throughout the year that to help families experience the joys of the seasons. Whether it’s putting an “Angel Tree” present under the tree at Christmas, providing a Thanksgiving dinner to a struggling family, hosting our annual Easter Eggstravaganza, or preparing youngsters to return to school, we want to respond to the unique seasonal needs of the communities in which we serve.
Angel Tree Assistance
We put new clothes and toys under the tree for children who usually have to go without Christmas gifts. Anonymous donors adopt our “Angels” in a Christmas tradition that makes the season brighter for both the gift giver and receiver. For more information on the Angel Tree assistance program, call the Virginia Peninsula Corps center at (757) 838-4875.
At the Salvation Army Virginia Peninsula, we try to make the holiday a little brighter by providing either a Thanksgiving dinner basket for families in need or a Thanksgiving meal for those who might otherwise go without.
We bring joy and excitement to struggling families in our community as we celebrate Easter with a community carnival and Easter Egg Hunt.
Every year, low-income families on the Virginia Peninsula struggle with the task of sending their children to school properly equipped with the supplies they need to succeed. With assistance from local businesses and individual donors, The Salvation Army provides children in need with bookbags and supplies to start the school year off right.
If you need assistance or would like to donate to or volunteer for one of these programs, please call one of our Corps centers or complete the Contact Us form online. Additional information is provided online and on our Salvation Army Virginia Peninsula Facebook page as seasonal programs get underway.
