The Salvation Army is led by officers – ordained ministers – who supervise the many programs and services provided in your area. They also serve as administrators, counselors, and youth leaders.

Major Donald and Laura Dohmann have been appointed as Area Commanders respectively for The Salvation Army of Hampton Roads.

Their calling and passion for serving others come from their love and passion for serving Christ. In 2004, after completing seminary in Atlanta Georgia, Majors Dohmann was appointed to open the ministry and social work of The Salvation Army in Sanford, NC. During their 16 years of ministry, they have also served as Corps officers in New Bern, NC, Gastonia NC, Lynchburg, VA, and as Area Commanders in Richmond VA. Early on in their leadership position, they began to understand the importance of bringing the community together to help meet the needs of the working poor and marginalized as well as being advocates for at-risk youth and vulnerable adults. As their passion grows for building strong community support of services and programs offered through The Salvation Army, their passion for serving others through the love of Christ grows deeper!

They are supported by numerous officers, dedicated staff, and board members.
