The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command continued the mission of service to the community with a drive-thru giveaway of 2,000 turkeys donated by CMA CGM.

The turkey giveaway was open to the community and welcomed all of our neighbors in need while supplies lasted. The event will took place Saturday, November 21, 2020 in the parking lot of Military Circle Mall in Norfolk. We remained mindful that Hampton Roads was continuing its efforts to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 virus, so as a precaution, this event operated as a drive-thru style event. All guests were asked to remain in their vehicle as they drove through the North Parking Lot of Military Circle Mall. There was also a walk-up station for anyone coming via Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) or on foot. There was a limit of one (1) 18-20lbs frozen turkey per family and a maximum of two (2) turkeys per car with proof of two families from separate residences.
The event was part of CMA CGM Group’s Giving Across America Thanksgiving initiative to feed more than 35,000 Americans across the nation. The company and its subsidiaries donated 10,000 turkeys and thousands of additional Thanksgiving meals to support charitable food distributions across the country. As part of its commitment to America CMA CGM provided critical supplies, including large refrigerated containers with generator sets to several Louisiana communities impacted by Hurricane Laura. The company also provided much-needed firefighting equipment and storage containers to support relief efforts related to the recent California wildfires.
