Our Leadership

Sergeants John and Sharon McKee

Sergeant John R. McKee began serving as a Corps officers for The Salvation Army of Loudoun County in Leesburg, VA, in June 2020. He considers himself to be a life-long Salvationist, having held most, if not all, local corps positions at one time or another. McKee remains an active member of The Salvation Army National Capital Band in Washington, DC, and has serving with The Salvation Army emergency disaster services, most notably serving first responders and investigators following the congressional baseball shooting a couple years back in Alexandria, VA.

Prior to pursuing his calling to full-time ministry with The Salvation Army, McKee worked for 14 years at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. He first started working in high school and throughout college in restaurants, eventually working his way up to General Manager. McKee majored in Physics and Chemistry in college, which led to a career in software/IT and automotive quality assurance prior to his time at the FDA.

McKee comes from a family of Salvationists – his grandparents were Salvation Army Officers, as were several uncles, cousins, and his brother, who is currently stationed at The Salvation Army USA National Headquarters. McKee felt called into ministry as a young adult, but ran from it, wanting to go his own way. About seven years ago, he made the decision to finally submit to God’s will, and began the process of preparation for full-time ministry including extensive training programs.

Born in the Detroit metropolitan area, McKee gained a real love of the auto industry, and still has a keen interest in sports cars. He also is blessed with two brothers, a sister, three children, two step children, and three grandchildren.

Sergeant Sharon McKee began serving as a Corps officers for The Salvation Army of Loudoun County in Leesburg, VA, in June 2020. For the past five years she has soldiered with The Salvation Army of Montgomery County in Germantown, Maryland, and The Salvation Army Landmark Corps in Fairfax, Virginia, where she worked with the Angel Tree distributions, the Red Kettle Campaigns, and led a prayer group.

Prior to becoming involved in The Salvation Army, McKee was very involved in church activities as a Deaconess at Washington United Korean Presbyterian Church, and a Deaconess at International Calvary Church. She previously worked in advertising for newspaper, radio, and television and was most recently a Marketing Manager.

McKee majored in Japanese and Biblical Studies in college, and originally planned to become a missionary. She has also taken classes in Biblical studies at Washington Baptist University, and is currently taking the Sergeant/Aux Captain training classes and the Trevecca Nazarene University sessions  for officer continuing education.

Born in Buyeo, South Korea, McKee is the second of four children, and she moved with her family to Seoul before moving to the United States. She was introduced to Campus Crusade for Christ in 10th grade, when she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She speaks Korean, Japanese, and English, and enjoys pottery and traveling.
