Rescue Christmas in Loudoun County

For the first time in 130 years, The Salvation Army is starting its annual holiday fundraising campaign early to Rescue Christmas. The funds raised through our Red Kettles are at risk this year due to COVID-19 while requests for services are at an all-time high. Based on the increase in services already provided in response to the pandemic, The Salvation Army of Loudoun County could serve up to 155 percent more people in 2020 with Christmas assistance, including putting food on the table, paying bills, providing shelter and helping place gifts under the tree – assuming the resources are available. Keep reading to see what we’re doing to Rescue Christmas and how you can . . .  Enlist in Love’s Army.

Red Kettle Campaign

Leesburg’s Mayor, Kelly Burk, kicked off the Salvation Army of Loudoun’s Red Kettle Campaign on Thursday, November 12. The festivities were held at the Town of Leesburg’s Town Hall. Sergeant John McKee and Advisory Board Chairperson Tom Gatewood along with several other honorary and current Advisory Board Members were in attendance.  The celebration also included a special performance by The Salvation Army Potomac Division band.

You can find the Red Kettle at local Giants and Walmart stores. Check out our Facebook page for Kettle updates.

Angel Tree

The Angel Tree Program, along with The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, is one of The Salvation Army’s highest-profile Christmas efforts. Hundreds of children in Loudoun County will experience the joy of opening presents on Christmas morning thanks to generous donors and the help of The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. Angel Trees are located at area malls and businesses in support of The Salvation Army during the holidays. The trees are decorated with paper angels representative of a child or senior who without this program may not receive a gift at Christmas.
