The Salvation Army of Suffolk needs your help as the Red Kettle Drive continues before Christmas. As part of their season of giving, Salvation Army bell ringers are still taking donations until Saturday, Dec. 23, to help the Salvation Army support the Suffolk, Isle of Wight, Surry, Southampton and Franklin communities. Salvation Army Officer Capt. Johnathan Meredith detailed their overall fundraising goal.

“I imagine that we’re about $62-63,000 up now. Our goal is, of course, $100,000, and I’ve got faith that our community is going to help us reach our goal,” Meredith said. “It’s all in God’s hands.”

Meredith noted that those wishing to donate can stop by the Walmart stores on 1200 Main St., 6259 College Dr. and in Franklin at 1500 Armory Dr.

Residents can also stop by Food Lion and Kroger stores in the Suffolk area. Likewise, residents can donate at the office on 400 Bank St. Meredith also detailed online ways to donate.

“You can donate by scanning a QR code. That’ll take you to our online Red Kettle campaign, where you’re able to donate safely online, as well as donating of your time,” Meredith said. “Our website is actually called registertoring.com And you’re able to sign up to ring at different locations for different time slots.”
