Last week I talked about how God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of Love, Power and Self-Discipline. I pray that you were able to experience this and so much more from our wonderful, amazing, awe-inspiring God. If not, seek Him as His Word says in Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
I don’t know about you, but this week for me has been a little hectic. My wife is a way at a
conference and I am single parenting it this week. I told our congregation, not to be surprised if you see me on the news this week under the story of “Pastor duct tapes children to wall…News at 11.” And on top of all of this, my wife and I have been given our farewell orders, which means we are moving to a new appointment, with new ministries, challenges and opportunities. Phew! It seems like one thing after another, and I’m getting pretty tired. In fact I’m down right exhausted at times, but I know where my strength fails and where I am weak, His strength is perfect.
Now I didn’t make this up. ☺ This is taken from 2 Corinthians 12:8-10. This is the apostle Paul speaking and he’s telling the church of Corinth about his struggle with a thorn in the flesh that God has given him. He tells them that he asked God 3 times to remove this thorn, and each time God replied “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…” (V9a). Paul, like so many of us begs God to remove the thorn in his flesh, and God answers us the same way He does Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you…” Are you suffering with a thorn in your flesh and don’t know what to do? God is saying, “My grace is sufficient for you…” Paul never revealed what that thorn in the flesh was, nor did he need to. The point was to make everyone (us including) aware that God’s grace is sufficient, it is always enough, it is plenty, there is an ample supply and we who love and serve Him are covered by it. So no matter what I go through in this new appointment, no matter what your week, month, year looks/feels like, God’s grace and power is more than enough. Remember, when you are weak, then you are strong! Because it is He who is giving you the strength, and as the Word says, it is perfect!
Be encouraged today, and share with someone about the grace God has given you. And as always be blessed, stay in your word and spend time with the almighty one who created you from the dust of the earth and breathed life into your lungs.
Until next time…
