Volunteer Opportunities

There are many different volunteer opportunities with The Salvation Army in Central Virginia. We offer volunteers a chance to change people’s lives across a wide range of activities and programs – all the while, being changed themselves. From volunteering during Christmas, sharing compassion with our Emergency Shelter residents, working with youth at our Boys & Girls Club, and spreading the word of God through our Worship programs – find your perfect match for giving back to the community.

Christmas Season Volunteer Opportunities

Give back to your community during the holiday season and help offer hope and joy to those most in need.

We have a large need for volunteers between September-December in the following capacities:

  • Angel Tree Registration – help register Angel Tree recipients for assistance. Registration takes place in late September through mid-October.
  • Christmas Center – process and sort gifts to be distributed to Angel Tree recipients. Christmas Center volunteers are needed beginning in November.
  • Angel Tree host site – volunteer at our Angel Tree location at Short Pump or Chesterfield Town Center during the month of November to assist patrons with “adopting” an Angel.
  • Ring a bell at a Red Kettle – sign up at www.registertoring.com to ring as an individual, group or organization. Red Kettles are out at participating retailers in Central Virginia in November & December.
