What is Human Trafficking?
Human trafficking is the exploitation of human beings using force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of sexual exploitation and/or forced labor. The Salvation Army has been in the fight against human trafficking since 1885.
Types of Human Trafficking
Sex Trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion; or in which the person induced to perform the act has not yet reached 18 years of age.
Labor Trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of involuntary servitude, debt bondage, peonage, or slavery.
