Thanks to a generous bequest from a local woman, Mrs. Jenny E. Wible, The Salvation Army of Williamsburg is one of three local organizations receiving annual grants from an endowment fund established in Mrs. Wible’s name at the Williamsburg Community Foundation.
With help from their Jenny Wible grant, last year The Salvation Army of Williamsburg provided a variety of services and benefits to people in need: nutritious, hot food to families and individuals; WATA bus passes and gas vouchers so people can get to work and medical appointments; rental assistance to prevent eviction; financial assistance for utilities like electric and water to prevent disconnection; and motel shelter assistance to prevent homelessness. Mrs. Wible’s bequest also allowed Salvation Army to help children make a strong start in school, providing backpacks, school supplies, clothes or uniforms and shoes.
