Youth Programs

Youth of all ages come through our doors. Some want to learn a new skill after school rather than going home to an empty house. Some need an adequate dinner or help with homework. Others just want to have a conversation with someone who is willing to listen. No matter what the need, we see each child’s potential in life and help them see hope for a bright future. This is all available through our youth programs held at Camp Happyland.

Our Camps

For more than 100 years, The Salvation Army has recognized the value of camping and has witnessed the difference it can make in people’s lives. The Salvation Army Potomac Division has two camps: Camp Happyland in Richardsville, Virginia, and Camp Tomahawk in Hedgesville, West Virginia.

Character-Building Programs

Building character starts young and helps determine who a child will become in life. Our programs help develop a child’s unique personality and individual strengths, based on Biblical principles.

Music & Arts

Most Salvation Army locations offer bands or choirs where youth can practice their passion as part of a musical team. Youth with a passion for music crave an outlet to perform, collaborate with other musicians and learn new techniques at most Salvation Army locations through their music and arts programs.
